Market Stalls/Booths
Description: Market stalls/booths are exhibition stands which offer an opportunity to share information using various media such as posters, photographs, booklets, brochures etc.
Set-up: The stalls/booths should be set-up at least a day before the actual event takes place. Preferably they should be intercommunicating and arranged in a circle to convey a convivial atmosphere. It is essential to provide them with a well thought out electricity network and several multi-sockets for the plugging of desk computers and laptops. Tables and chairs should be provided not only for sharing documents and other resources but also to support any ad-hoc interactive discussion opportunities. Display racks and panels for posters can also be useful equipment.
Lesson Learned:
- The stands should be thematic rather than organizational or individual project-based. Thematic stands allow for one or more projects working on similar themes to come together and interact with each other.
- Ensure time is allocated in the agenda for a market stalls/booths tour. To promote interaction, the following suggestions might come handy:
- organize for a moderator who walks from one booth to the other asking questions (microphones might help) to the presenters
- organize a competition for the most interactive/innovative booth. In this case, participants should be asked to vote.
