Accommodation at ILRI Hostel

At ILRI Hostel, your stay will be comfortable and safe. In a versatile and spacious structure, equipped with all basic facilities (private bathroom, minimal kitchen, DSTV satellite TV and telephone), the Campus staff will assist you during the entire duration of your stay.
Charges: Room charges are $65/night and should be paid in the Housing Office between 08:30 and 17:00 on weekdays. Bills must be paid in US dollars, Euro or Pound Sterling cash. Personal cheques and credit cards are not acceptable. The conference and hostel facilities are available on cost-recovery bases for use by partner organizations, including UN organizations, other intergovernmental organizations and NGO’s involved in activities in line with ILRI’s mandate.Extra Charges: Use of Flip chart papers, telephone, fax and e-mail, stationery and photocopying will be charged at cost.

The Housing, Catering and Conference Manager’s office is located near hostel Block A. Telephone enquiries can be made by dialling extension 2600. If calling from outside to ILRI, dial 0116 172000 or 0116172600. The office is open from 0815 to 1700 on weekdays. In case an emergency arises after office hours, contact the security guards patrolling the compound, Zebu Club staff (ext. 2694) or the Security Office at the gate (ext. 2700).
Guests: We regret that guests other than residents of ILRI compound and ILRI staff are not permitted in hostel rooms. Hostel residents can, however, entertain guests in the Zebu club.
Laundry: ILRI provides laundry service (no dry-cleaning) and will do a moderate amount of washing for you. Please complete the form provided in your room and place clothing in the plastic bag provided. The room steward will collect the bag each morning (except Sundays). Laundry will be returned within 48 hours. Please do not submit items for laundering less than two days before your departure.
Personal items: Please keep your belongings locked up. Valuables can be kept in the safe at the Housing Office. ILRI is not responsible for valuables left in your room.
Repairs and maintenance: For repair and maintenance jobs, please fill in the maintenance slip provided in your room and leave it at the Housing Office. For jobs requiring urgent attention, contact the Housing Office (during office hours), or the Security Office (ext. 2700) (after office hours).
Room key: Please keep your room keys with you at all times. Should you lose your key or leave it inside the Hostel room, please contact the Front office. If after office hours, contact the Security Office (ext. 2700) or the Zebu Club staff.
Room service: ILRI room stewards clean rooms each morning.
Zebu Club: ILRI Zebu Club (Ext. 2694), located across from the cafeteria, is open to all hostel residents during their stay. (Those staying for more than three months should pay a membership fee; contact the Housing Office for details). Facilities and services available include bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and gym. Snacks and light meals are available from 17:00 to 21:00, seven days a week, and at 13:00–14:00 on Saturdays. Buffet lunches are served on Sundays from 13:00 to 14:00. The bar also provides hot and cold drinks.
